Information for Schools

BCRC Public School Services

BCRC offers a wide range of services to and in public schools. These include providing Behavior Analysts to conduct assessments and oversee Interventions. Also available are Behavioral Assistants (BAs) who implement behavioral and related programs called for in the IEP, in public schools. The assistants receive supervision in the performance of their duties by a BCRC Behavior Analyst.

Districts have been retaining BCRC behavior intervention and full inclusion services for many years. The BA in the classroom has been selected as specifically suitable to work with the child or children named in the IEP.

How Services are Paid

Services provided by BCRC are paid for by districts, SELPAs, and the State. In some cases, the State will provide school districts and SELPAs with 100% reimbursement of BCRC services.

BCRC fulfills all the costs associated with provision of a BA: Benefits, retirement program, workers' compensation, etc.

Teacher & School Administrator Direction of a BCRC Assistant

While we do provide supervision, the classroom teacher obviously remains in charge of the pupil's education and day-to-day activities. The teacher is also a critical training resource. We appreciate teachers' and school administrators' guidance and feedback. We seek to work collaboratively and welcome any and all input we can receive. All BCRC assistants are informed at the time of their employment that the class room teacher is their on-site supervisor, as is the school administrator. Additionally, BCRC supervisors can be excellent intermediaries to help with any questions pertaining to this area.

BCRC staff has been given permission to meet with teachers before or after class. This can be done on an as needed basis. If, however, this becomes a regular meeting, BCRC would appreciate a call from the teacher or from our BA to inform us.

Curricular Modifications

Making curricular modifications is a critical aspect of successful educational programming for special needs children, particularly those in inclusive enviornments. BCRC assistants can asist in the modification of curriculum but they cannot, as stipulated in the Ed Code, be the primary adapters. This job remains the responsibility of the regular or special education teacher, full inclusion teacher, etc. A BCRC supervisor with a teaching credential may also help in curriculum adaptation if desired, however, an on-site teacher should ideally be assigned to this task

Access to BCRC Supervisors

School staff is more than welcome to contact the supervisor of the behavioral assistant at any time about anything of concern. All BCRC supervisors can be contacted via their cellphones or pagers.
